Introducing….

The latest additions to our family…
gerbils? No!
Guinea Pigs? No! (surprisingly, since that’s what hubby went out to get on Christmas Eve!)
Hamsters? YES!!!
I present to you the cutest, sweetest rodents around town…

Calypso, named and claimed by The Naturalist. She is found most often burrowing into the bedding.

Tiger, named and claimed by The Golfer. She is found most often in the food bowl.

I never had hamsters as a kid. I did have a goldfish once that I was convinced I had trained to leap, flip, and dive back into the bowl a la Shamu. But he didn’t live for very long. My kids have never had hamsters, or any hairy pet for that matter. Just firebelly toads and some foster bunnies every once in a while. So this is a big step for all of us.

These two gals are so stinking cute, and loved (just look at the Golpher’s face up there, looking at Tiger!) and it has been decided that the kids want to pool together their christmas money to create a better habitat for the hamsters. One with lots of tunnels, wheels, secret spaces, and clanging bells. These are the luckiest hamsters EVER! I tried to convince everyone that mama needs a new outfit, and mama is the one making all the food, and wouldn’t they want to buy mama some new clothes with their Christmas money…but no. Calypso and Tiger are large and in charge and getting some new digs (already!).

It’s hamster heaven over here.
